If your dog's coat is heavily matted or knotted up, I would not attempt to brush out the coat under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. The impact on the dog is unethical and not something any animal should have to endure.
I reserve the right to perform a complete clip off in this situation, after a thorough examination of the coat condition, and consent from the customer. I would only ever work in the best interests of the dog and will strive to achieve a groom that is clean and comfortable, in the knowledge that it will soon grow back.
Please also be aware that irritaion can occur from very short clipping in some cases. I cannot be held liable for any after effects or problems uncovered under a matted coat.
Any dog that is considered too severely matted to safely groom will be referred for veterinary attention.
I do require owners of matted dogs to sign a consent form before any grooming is carried out.
Please be assured I do not judge, my only aim is the welfare and comfort of the dog.
